![]() ![]() Sam Rockwell won for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” in 2018, Tom Hardy was nominated for “The Revenant” in 2016, J.K. We know that the Academy like nominating villains in the Best Supporting Actor category. Firstly, Gosling’s Ken is something of a villain. ![]() While Gosling’s performance may feel a little out there, there are actually a number of reasons to believe why he will pick up that bid (aside from how good the performance is, of course). If he picks up the bid as we think he will, he will land his third-ever Oscar nomination after he was nominated twice for Best Actor - once in 2007 for “Half Nelson” and then again in 2017 for “La La Land.” (“Oppenheimer”), and Robert De Niro (“Killers of the Flower Moon”). As such, Gosling is in our top five predicted nominees for Best Supporting Actor alongside Colman Domingo (“The Color Purple”), John Magaro (“Past Lives”), Robert Downey Jr. He steals pretty much every scene he’s in and delivers one of the best comedic performances in cinema this century. Probably the biggest takeaway from the movie is how brilliant Gosling is. Robbie fits right in with those names, while she is still in the Oscars gaze with those two recent nominations. Recent nominees include Ana de Armas (in 2023 for “Blonde”), Kristen Stewart (in 2022 for “Spencer”), and Scarlett Johansson (in 2020 for “Marriage Story”). However, Robbie is one of the biggest stars on the planet right now and we know that voters like nominating young, big-name actresses in this category. Plus, Jessica Lange (“Long Day’s Journey Into Night”) and Annette Bening (“Nyad”) are also ahead of Robbie, so there is some ground for Robbie to make up just yet. However, Robbie is currently outside of our predicted five nominees in this category: Emma Stone (“Poor Things”), Natalie Portman (“May December”), Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Greta Lee (“Past Lives”), and Fantasia Barrino (“The Color Purple”). She is looking for her third Oscar bid after she was nominated in 2018 for Best Actress for “I, Tonya” and then again in 2020 for Best Supporting Actress for “Bombshell.” It also shows a deep understanding of tone and style while Robbie’s Barbie is the emotional heart of the movie. Other names (more on that below) might steal the spotlight but its selfless performance that makes the movie work. Robbie is wonderful as Barbie and it’s her pitch-perfect performance that keeps the movie running. ![]() We can also drag and drop in order to reorder them. I could give this a name and then we can drag and drop the color swatches into the folder. In order to organize my swatch presets, we can click on the folder icon. If I select one of those, I can then add it to my swatches panel as a preset again by clicking on the plus icon. Now, along these swatches panel across the top here, are my recently used swatches. If I ever want to delete a color from my swatches, I just need to select it and then click on the trash icon in order to delete it. Again, I could give it a name and it would add it to my swatches. If I select a color and I want to add it to my swatches, I can just click on the plus icon. ![]() And of course, we can always refine these using any of the sliders. So now I can use the circle to select the hue, and then I can use the triangle for the saturation and brightness. And one of my favorites is the color wheel. But there are a variety of different ways that we can view the color panel. So, like the color picker, we can choose our saturation and brightness here and then select our hue. If the color panels not showing, just go under the window menu and then select color. Now, another way to select colors, is by using the color panel. To swap the foreground and background colors, I can click the double-headed arrows, or I can just tap the X key. If I ever want to reset the color picker, I can either click on these small thumbnails here, or I can tap the D key to select my default colors. I'll go ahead and select a blue color and click okay and that becomes my new foreground color. I could give it a name and click okay, and we can see it appear in my swatches panel. If I want to add a color to my swatches, I can choose to do so. And if we switch to the color libraries, now we can see all of the different Pantone books and other color libraries and select colors from here. You can also click in the image in order to select a color while you're in the color picker. And then we can choose our different colors and we even get the hex value of the color at the bottom of the window. If we want to restrict the colors that I choose to only web colors, I can select that. Now, if you prefer to choose a color using another color model, we can click any of these other buttons in order to change the appearance of the color picker. If I want to change the saturation and the brightness, I'll click in the large square, or I can use this little elevator here in order to change the hue. We can either click the foreground or the background color swatch, and that will bring up the color picker. So the first would be the color picker, which is in the toolbar. ![]() Let's take a look at a few of them and then we can pick our favorites. There are a number of very cool ways to select colors in Photoshop. |
